Privacy Policy — Vite

This Privacy Policy explains how Vite ("Vite", "we", "us", or "our"), operated by Fathi Abdelhakim Jaafar, trading as Vite in Djelfa, Algeria, collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use the Vite mobile application and related services (the "Service").
Vite is a food-delivery platform that connects customers, restaurants, and delivery drivers in the Djelfa area. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy. This policy should be read together with our Terms of Service.

1. Information We Collect
Information you provide:
- Account details — your name, phone number, email address, and password (created and secured through our authentication provider). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from your Google account.
- Profile — an optional profile photo (avatar).
- Delivery information — delivery addresses and any delivery notes you enter.
- Orders — the items you order, order totals, and order history.
- Driver applications (drivers only) — full name, phone, wilaya, vehicle type and description, and any details you submit to apply as a driver.
Information collected automatically:
- Location — with your permission, your device location to set delivery addresses and show nearby restaurants. For users acting as delivery drivers, we collect continuous GPS location while you are online/available, so customers and restaurants can track active deliveries. Drivers can stop location sharing by going offline.
- Device & notifications — a push-notification token so we can send order updates, and basic technical data needed to operate the app.
Payment information:
- Vite currently operates on a cash-on-delivery basis. We do not collect, process, or store credit/debit card or bank-account numbers in the app.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- create and manage your account and authenticate you;
- take, process, and deliver your orders;
- route orders to restaurants and match them with available drivers;
- calculate delivery fees (based on distance) and show order status in real time;
- send order and account notifications;
- provide customer support and resolve disputes;
- maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms;
- comply with applicable Algerian law.
3. How We Share Your Information
We share only what is necessary to provide the Service:
- With restaurants — your order details and the information needed to prepare it.
- With delivery drivers — for an active order, your delivery address and the contact details needed to complete delivery. During an active delivery, you and the assigned driver are each shown the other's phone number so you can call one another to coordinate the delivery (for example, to confirm your exact location or delivery instructions). This number is visible only for the duration of that delivery; once the order is delivered or cancelled, it is no longer shown in the app. These numbers are used solely to complete the order and are never sold or shared with third parties for marketing.
- With customers and restaurants (for drivers) — a driver's live location and basic identity during an active delivery.
- With service providers that help us run the app, under their own terms and privacy policies:
- Supabase — backend hosting, database, authentication, and notifications infrastructure.
- Google — Google Sign-In, and mapping/location services where used.
- Expo — push-notification delivery.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Vite, our users, or the public.
4. Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected:
- Order records (items, amounts, delivery address, timestamps) — retained for 24 months after account deletion, for accounting, tax and dispute-resolution purposes.
- Driver location (GPS) data — retained for 90 days from the date of collection, then deleted.
- Account data (name, phone number, email, saved addresses) — deleted when you delete your account.
- Data we are required by Algerian law to retain for longer will be retained only for the period the law requires.
You may request deletion of your account and associated data (see Section 7).
5. Security
We protect your data using access controls and row-level security on our database, encryption of data in transit, and restricted access to personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using reasonable safeguards.
6. Data Breach Notification
In the event of a security breach affecting your personal data, we will notify affected users without undue delay, and in any case within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, describing the nature of the breach, the data affected, the measures taken, and the steps you can take to protect yourself. We will also notify the competent Algerian authority where required by law.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Subject to applicable law (including Algeria's Law No. 18-07 on the protection of personal data), you may:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate information (much of which you can edit in the app);
- delete your account and personal data;
- withdraw consent for location access (via your device settings; note some features will stop working).

8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version in the app with a new "Last updated" date, and where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
